when people talk abt good looking koreans, the first person that comes to mind is??

yupe. mr Daniel Henney.

i give it to him. he's quite a looker. i noticed him first in the "Seducing Mr Perfect" poster. then again when he was mentioned in "Hello Francesca". then i saw an episode of Witch Yoo Hee. forget Daniel..

i've got dennis.
what's wrong with these mixed blood? i need to get me an american-korean. ok.. maybe dun need american. australian-korean? would be nice. i love australia. i cld get used to korea (Q10 haven!). or australian-japanese.. or or or..

thinking too much. at least dennis and daniel are older than me, right jt??? ahahahaha. i love you. and inspite of my crazy schizo 14-year-old-fanatic facade, evan still loves me. proof? at 12+ am on monday morning..

君: Feliz Navidad says:
but you still love me
君: Feliz Navidad says:
ahaha
君: Feliz Navidad says:
right? right?

had a mcflurry from kap just now.. and the strangest thing happened. it was a crazy flood of memories..

of walks through botanic gardens to get to island creamery for ice cream or macs for a break.. all the crazy talks about anything under the sun..

and the oreos.

there's smth about oreos that whenever i munch on them, i just feel like smiling. of course, someone is involved. without people, memories make no sense.

thank you, you all. :)

Day 1:
left the office with a lighter step. Korea beckons. i touch down in korea feeling sleepy with a killer neckache. went to the filming site of Da Chang Jing and after that to shinchon. after that, took the plane to the 'ideal honeymoon site' in korea, Jeju island.

Day 2:
super packed day. we started at Seongsan Sunrise Peak where it's raining like mad. made it halfway up the peak before the cold got the better of me. after that, we headed to the tangerine farm where the crazy family filled MY POCKETS with tangerines. trick learnt. the smaller ones are sweeter than the big ones.

we went to the rape seed flower garden and then to Jussangjeoulli Coastal Roads. headed to the teddy bear musuem and then to the Happy Town Performance, Yongdaum Rock and finally the Mysterious Road.

i went crazy in the teddy musuem. will devote a whole album to the musuem soon.

Day 3:
flew back to Seoul and after lunch, went to Nami Island where Winter Sonata was filmed. my fingers were so frozen that i cldn't feel the water. at night, the family went to soak in the hot spring and pop sprained his ankle when he kicked yong. i went for dunkin' donuts with three other girls in the tour group, brenda, jules and gillian.

Day 4:
I declare that all good looking guys are in boybands. look at SS501.. FT Island.. half of Shinhwa. but i adore Park Young Jin. If anyone can get their hands on his latest album, let me know! his dance moves are uber hot.

anywayz, it snowed. start of the snow for the trip. got to ski.. forwards and backwards, mind you. after that, went to Seorak National park where all of us were freezing. but the photos were worth the frozen unfeeling fingers. the burning chocolate was merely lightly stinging my fingers..
Day 5:
snow fell down. i fell sick. nose gone. throat gone. throbbing head. managed to have fun at everland. i screamed my head off at the suspended coaster (eagle's fortress) and the hurricane ride. then went to dongdaemun where i bought presents and got myself a bag.

Day 6:
Feeling worse. mad itinerary again. started at the ginseng place before the presidential place then down to the National Palace. next was the Korean Cultural Center where we made kimchi and wore the traditional costumes for photo-whoring. ended the day at lotteworld where i was just really sick and warm and quite gone.

i love churros... but it was tasteless. my tastebuds are dead from my crazy nose. didn't even get to go to the lotte mart. haiz.

Day 7:
went to the ameythst factory and got presents and a necklace for myself. then to a place similar to sasa.. just better korean products at a much lower price. went quite mad and spent 30,000 won. that's abt S$48. finished off at the local provision shop where we filled up 5 baskets of food. my family is mad.

reminding photos are here!!
part 2: http://smusg.facebook.com/album.php?aid=76080&l=c0a56&id=866370645
part 3: http://smusg.facebook.com/album.php?aid=76090&l=45de1&id=866370645
finally back from korea.. came back 3 hours with dry skin, chapped lips, blocked nose, clogged throat and giddiness..

but also still swarming with memories.. not so much of the place but of the people. like the *tsk* family.. the 三位美女.. the 三位老师... and of course, the dear tour guide 小 liu. not sure which "liu" it is. her name is 嘉惠 (hope i got the right characters) and she's really such a dear..

unfortunately, i think i passed her my cold. she's just so affectionate. she likes to hit me and hug me and somehow, she was sniffing away on the last day. either she's emotional abt us leaving or she's really sick. haiz.

will update more tmr. anywayz, for a preview, here's part one of my own photos from my camera. http://smusg.facebook.com/album.php?aid=75877&l=225ff&id=866370645 will put up more later..

going to kimchi-land tomorrow!!!

aw man.. i haven't felt so excited in such a long time.. to get away from it.. throw all cares away and be in a new country. *lalalalalalalala*

ok la.. not quite done with packing. but still in the mood. shopping shopping!! whee~

it's a christmas mood, i swear. i'm in a party mood. *boing boing* can't wait! on a mellow note, i'm ODing on a song in the latest BSB album.. like how the whole song comes together.. the cheesy words and the amazing music. :)

Love Will Keep You Up All Night
i won't tell nobody
i just scream it in my mind
nothing good in life is scripted
it's not like we predicted
that the one you want is gonna be the one you thought

i won't tell nobody
but i won't live like a prisoner
nothing has to be so perfect
can you tell me was it worth it
because a heart can't lie
even though a face may try
love can keep you up all night

love will keep you up all night
it's not a thing you can decide
one day you're all alone
the next you're crying on the phone
love will keep you up all night
you've got to taste the sweet divide
take it to the other side
love will keep you up all night

if i don't tell a living soul
still everyone will know (yes they'll know)
it's always 3 am somewhere
you'd know it when you get there
some people try to cover it up
some people think it's never enough

i don't mean to scare you
but everybody has a first time
one day when you're old and gray
don't look back and ever say
you shld have tried staying up all night

i'm looking forward to winter wonderland. just didn't think it wld be that wintery. as of today, jeju is at max of 12C and min of 6C. seoul? 5C to -4C.

how many ways can you say frozen?
冰冻 (chinese), estoy helado (spanish), il fait froid (french)

no, i haven't packed. that's what the weekend is for. i might scare myself with the lack of thermal wear. just bringing leggings. think i'll carry red wine with me throughout korea. maybe i'll buy one of them silver hip flasks.

EEeeEEeeEE!! so atas!

alternatively, i'll bring a bottle of vodka and another bottle of ribena. what an AA-way of starting the day. truly living up to my vice-president seat in the office huh?

anywayz, beers (bottled, not draft!!) are less than SGD 3 in korea. no, i didn't do a specific check on beers or alcohols. i was checking up on korea in general.

milk might be even more ex than beer. starbucks is just as expensive. i wonder if they have other coffee joints. some place that will allow me to stick a coffee IV into myself.

of course i'm joking. i can't IV myself if i wanna burn my tongue and keep myself warm right?

btw, i'm in the christmas mood. going to kimchi-land to shop!! changing SGD 400. too much? but i've got to buy stuff for those i love.. like snacks for the gym ppl.. snacks for the dbters.. snacks for the cfers... snacks for kp.. snacks for my dear associates.. and my sa5 girls (yd, you can be a girl if you want to)..

and that's just the food/group part. got to buy the presents for my gelare girls and my other ice cream kakis. and of course i always like to get something for myself to remind me of korea.

how many ways can you say "broke"?
破产 (chinese), no tengo dinero (spanish), aucun argent (french)

the radio has been playing Corrine May's "Beautiful Seed". lovely piece. with christmas around the corner, my mind waxes lyrical about this time of the year..

it's more than the cards and more than the gifts
it's more than dear old chubby st nick
it's more than the fir trees and mistletoes
it's more than couples gliding on snow
Christmas to me is something i hold true
Christmas to me is all about You

hey, it's Christmas for a reason. :)

Reuben's Blog Entry

Tuesday, July 31, 2007

Death has a way of making partings seem like they never happened. You don't have to say goodbye, you don't have to worry about sending the person off.

But you know that unlike the friends that leave you, they won't have a chance to be happy. And maybe thats all you want for those whom you spent time with in your life but have left you - for them to be happy.

*******

i never knew any of the 5 dragonboaters. i have no idea how their families and friends are taking it. i am in no place to say i understand how they feel. i don't. at all.

but i know friends who know them. and it's enough for me to feel grief. to just know that a dragonboat team lost 5 of their members is painful already.

that's how it is with humans right? we can be bitches. we can be mean, cynical, bitter. we can be insensitive, thoughtless and cruel.

but we can also feel for those around us. that a simple chain of connection.. a simple similar thought.. that causes that simple thread of life to connect us nevertheless.

that while we cannot say we know exactly how people feel after a tragic loss. that while we cannot say we know the extent of their grief 'cos to do so would be a scandal- one that makes the pain so trivial.

but because of that one thing that we all have, we feel for each other. we feel pain and grief in different degrees but that ache in the heart tugs and nags at us and makes us cry even when we are supposed to be the ones consoling those who are in need of relief.

just because we are humans.

finally had the chance to go back to church today. and a verse is just echoing in my head now..

"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10:15

something that's been bugging me.. this selfish desire to leave everything behind.. to start afresh. literally to start all over again.

i've been honestly thinking about overseas ministry. to pick everything up and go overseas. but i see the many opportunities at home already. is it selfish of me to want to uproot and do ministry somewhere else?

just that for the past one week, i've been thinking of that church at zhongnan station, near where i stayed when i was in taipei. started when reg asked if i ever considered going overseas to work or live. i mentioned melbourne. i've always wanted to go melbourne to work and live 'cos of the theological exposure i know i will get there..

and what happens to that exposure?

i wanna give back. i wanna serve to give people that exposure. a easy route would just to come back home and help out with PT, right? then the little church came to mind. i wld see the older folk leave the church at night when i'm going back to rest. to see them serve.. my heart goes out to them..

and i know the level of biblical exposure they get there is nothing like what we get here. and i just want to be there.. maybe it's just self-satisfaction on my part. just me trying to find a place when i know i'm contributing and feeling good about myself because i know i'm helping out.

oh to get my hands on a chinese bible.. and to stop people from laughing at me when i speak mandarin. haiz.

anywayz, back to the verse... wld be nice to get it tattooed on the right edge of my right foot tarsel.. to remind me to keep on moving for Him. :)

my fantastic little sister never fails to amuse me. first, she had her whole neeewdles thingy with noodles.. then there was the story of sunflower seed factories that make use of hamsters to shell the seeds. ("how else do you think the seeds come out so pretty and saltily flavorered?" i managed to ask with a freaking straight face. i rock.)

tonight, while watching news, my mom remarked that her blackberry did not have predictive texting. i nodding, as if she was stating the obvious. wasn't she? then little did i know, she was actually wondering why her blackberry didn't have predictive text.. which made the whole night even funnier.

after a while, my younger sister came out from the kitchen and looked at my mom.

"Where's your blueberry?"

now, i honestly thought it was most selfish of my mommy to buy blueberries and not tell me. my mom just stared at my younger sister quizzically. my younger sister had a don't-you-understand-the-words-that-are-coming-out-of-my-mouth look on her face.

then my mother collapsed, laughing. "IT'S A BLACKBERRY!"

*twirling hair moment*

i laughed sooo hard, i swear. it's just as bad as my 4 bimbotic darlings chorusing "oohhsss" when i broke open the macaroon at Menotti.

i decided that i shld get some work done in the study. after a while, my younger sister walked into the study, fuming. she asked me if i knew that the blackberry didn't have a predictive text function. i nodded. like duh right?

apparantly, she decided to help my mom activate the predictive text mode. (??????!!?!!???). i stared at her like she was mad. now, she's feeling like an absolute idiot and i'm blogging about it to share her fantastic little night with everyone.

my poor little bimbo-tic sister. *twirl hair*

i've been thinking of running away. just running away from what the world demands of me.. away from the persecution and the inner battles that i face day by day.

i saw a brochure at home the other day. "study abroad in perth". again, i was seized by that insatiable urge to drop everything and leave it all behind.

..and go to Melbourne to pursue postgrad studies. maybe hospitality. maybe law. maybe even head over to Moore college. but that idea of implanting myself somewhere new and foreign.. to start afresh literally.

i wanna clear the skeletons in my closet. i want to come out of the closet and let the world know who i've chosen to call Savior. to let everyone know that i serve a faithful Lord. right now, not everyone knows of this. in time to come, i will let the world how He's changed me and made me new. and to start afresh.

give me 3 years

after 3 years, i will leave all these behind physically. i will leave old scars and wounds and start anew. live my life the way i want to.. the way that wld please Him to no end. that He will remember me for my faithfulness and devotion to Him alone.

is it His will and that i will find the capacity and capability to say goodbye to this life and move on to newer things? things that will still please Him? i have no idea. But whatever the case, it's something i will work towards.. to work towards that completeness of a perfect relationship with Him. i'm far from that. but i'm working towards it.. whatever Your will, be it unto me.

Be it unto me
According to your Word
According to your promises
I can stand secure
Carve upon my heart
The truth that sets me free
According to your Word O Lord
Be it unto me

You promised your word will deliver
Lord, we believe it's true
You promised us joy like a river
Lord we receive it from you
These things you have spoken
And you're bringing to pass
This world's disappearing
But your word will last

Be it unto me
According to your Word
According to your promises
I can stand secure
Carve upon my heart
The truth that sets me free
According to your Word O Lord
Be it unto me

You promised to carry our sorrows
Lord, we believe it's true
You promised unending tomorrows
Lord we receive them from you
These things you have spoken
And you're bringing to pass
This world's disappearing
But your word will last

House, MD fascinates me. i love the dry humor.. the almost quiet sadness.. the horror at doctors snooping in their patient's apartments to find out whether the illness is due to environmental causes.. and even better when Greg House fakes his own cancer in Season 3's "Half-wit". hilarity ensues as everyone thinks he's gonna die. the following is the exchange between the very very very very gorgeous Jesse Spencer and the all-so-hot-Brit Hugh Laurie.

Chase: i'm sorry you're dying. i'm gonna hug you. anything to say?
House: well if you're considering grabbing my ass, don't start anything-
Chase: (hugs House)
House: -you can't finish. (pause)
House: as long as we're just standing here, do you mind if we work? it gets the treatment going. (pause)

House: are you crying?
Chase: (pulls away abruptly) no.

aw man.. you have to watch it to understand what i'm talking abt. the two of them.. make the show super duper fun to watch..

yes. i'm a very distracted girl.
