sports injuries are common. my younger sister stubbed both her big toes during netball, thus resulting in two very purplish black toenails. my older sis has taken one too many balls smashing into her unprotected upper thigh, leaving bruises. me? the ususal blue-blacks on my elbows from hitting the boat when paddling and shoulder/back injuries.

my younger bro finally got a taste of his first official sports injury 'cos cramping up before a race at the swim meet does not count. but check this out!
an absolute shiner. ok, it's still in the early stages of being red and very painful. but check it out!

it's how fabulous. i'm proud of the little boy. he's finally gone thru the official initiation of being a sportsperson. we'll be monitoring the progress. see how long it takes to turn blue then purple then maybe black and back to normal.

welcome to the club, dude!

on saturday, i went for my x-ray. the center was crowded. i reached at 11 and there was a long queue. obediently, i joined the queue. once in a while, random people hassled the poor counterstaff to try to get ahead but they were directed to the back of the queue.

after about 45 min, i was behind 5 more people to the queue. at the crowd control ribbon, there was a little indian boy playing with the ribbon and smacking people along the way. I put my hand to stop the ribbon. the little boy looked at me with a frown.

i stared back.

he stopped and ran over to his father. the lady in front of me looked back gratefully with a smile.

it was quite exhilarating, i have to say. later, i decided to walk over to funan from chinatown. at a junction, a man accidentally runs his pram into another man. the man with the pram apologizes.

the friend of the man who gets hit isn't as nice. He rants and raves, shouting angry words and vulgarities at the man. even though he wasn't the one who was hit. the ranter was exceptionally angry, and one thing he shouted rang deep in me.

"Red man! You blind ah? Not educated isn't? RED MAN CANNOT CROSS!"

i stared at him incredulously. his lady companion notices my look and shushes him immediately. he continued for a while more before finally shutting up. within 2 min, he stepped on the road despite the "red man" still reflected in the traffic light. this time i frowned and his lady companion, as if psychic, turned to look at me. she noticed my frown and hurried the man along.

i wait for the "green man". ironic, isn't it? to be ranting and raving at the side of the road about people not being educated. embarrassing too. to add to the double irony, to jaywalk after that. oh well. *shrugs*
********
on a lighter note, i finally have movies that i wanna watch! 3 movies..
1. The Leap Years
2. L Change the world
3. Persepolis

who wants to watch with me?

I'm sitting in the client's place before lunch, trying to focus while being distracted by the email alerts popping up and distracting myself by reading the emails.

We're spamming one another again. It's one of those one-email-every-minute spam. We seem to thrive on spamming like we thrive on breathing. after a series of boo-boos on my part, i try to push my mistake out of my mind, continue with my work and reading hilarious emails while listening to Mika.

then oli asks, "btw whilst i have your attention... could you please possibly explain to me the meaning of... 'huat ah!!!'... i don't get it o.O"

it started from the email invitation from OPT to his place for CNY. once i got the email, i clicked "forward" and emailed all the G2s, asking them if they were going to the party. being in the festive mode, i greeted everyone with a "HUAT AH!". oli isn't from around here (he's a spurs fan. i think that says enough) so he's still picking up bits of singlish.

The following spam ensues within 5 minutes..

SL> SK can do a realli goooooood demonstration of "HUAT AH" she will throw in a chinese rendition of "FA CAI AH!". And to express your gratitude, (Oli) can do an english or canadian rendition of "Prosper and win big MONEY AH!" *Take note that you must add a singlish accent(AH, LOR, LEH...) into it to retain the local flavor.

Oli> ooo now i get it, thx!

Me> Anyone remember "Wheel of Fortune"? When they spin it, they always shout, "Big Money! Big Money!". same same. Next time, we'll all go on the show if given the chance and when we spin the stupid wheel, we'll shout, "Huat ah! HUAT AH!"

Prior to the email, i was caught up in the highness of the morning and i even role-played a contestant on Wheel of Fortune, shouting "Huat Ah!", coupled with the action of spinning the wheel and clapping my hands excitedly. SL and i went off like hysterical idiots laughing.

and as all morning spam, the hype from 9.44 am dies by 10.52 am, everyone is clearly tired from the laughing and drained of any sugar left in their system. we all go back to our work a lot more mellow.

let it not be said that KP RAS/IAS people are boring old farts. we're vibrant young farts.

finally finished screwtape letters last night.

it was rather.. abstract. but so real. C S Lewis is really quite brilliant.. he had gone beyond all cliche-ness of most books on temptations. he pretty much punches people into the dirt and makes them think abt their "holiness". good stuff, i tell ya.

If anyone wants to borrow the book, lemme know!

I do apologize.

in my raging grouse about the morning crowd, i accidentally wrote "left" as "right" and vice versa. you stand on the left. and people walk up the right. just like on the roads. the right lane is the fast lane.

mich, thank you for pointing that out to me. :)

but nevertheless despite my boo-boo, i still think the morning crowd needs to wake up their ideas. it's stuff like that which make me miss the mechanical politeness of the japs.

i hate stupid morning crowds..

wait. that came out wrong.

i loathe stupid morning crowds. (osbourne wld be most upset that i bold and underline a word..)

these people are like re-freaking-tarded to the max. like, "excuse me, miss. could you please not lean on the mrt pole? it's crowded and people need something to grab on. unless you're offering your body for us people to freaking hold onto."

like hello? do you not see us?

oh wait. the retardedness must have blinded you. i'm sorry.

besides, i don't fancy grabbing an idiot leaning on the pole. i'd get idiot juice on my hands. i would much rather fall then grab onto you. that way, i can 'accidentally' step on you, smile brilliantly and say, "sorry ah. no pole to hold onto..."

then there are those who do not keep to the right. the left side is for people to walk up, you chickenathans of the world. absolute stubongs.

as you can see, i'm not very tolerant of retardedness and stupidity arising from people who manage to secure a job at raffles place. by the time i got to the client's place, i was fuming. the escalator up RP? it was a clear path on the left. this woman (oh so NOOOOOT a lady..) right in front of me stood on the left.

Like she was the queen of the world.

everyone else was standing on the right. she must have decided that the feng shui on the left was better. so i got pissed. and i got even. i decided to cut in front of her and in doing so, i said "excuuuuuuuse meee" very loudly and 'accidentally' bumped her with my fat-ass bag.

yar. not terribly godly. i figured that it was time to calm down to control the rage. self-control and forgiveness are attributes of God, right? so just like he forgave rebellious Israel..

I FORGIVE YOU, STUPID MORNING CROWD!

monday mornings always get me down.. things that irk me on a daily basis seem to irk me a little more.. is it just me or are somethings really annoying??

1. reckless jaywalkers.
they seem to think that they own the roads. when the green man is flashing and counting down from 10 already, they run towards the road to cross it. once they touch the tar road, they slow down to a walk. as if by being on the road, they have immunity from the cars even when it becomes a red man.

worse are those who just walk across the roads, weaving in between cars and holding their hands out to stop cars when the underpass or pedestrian crossing is less than 10m away. damn lazy people who hold up traffic like they are the kings and queens of the road.

2. irresponsible car drivers
these people have no concept of bus lanes or yellow boxes or pedestrian crossings. those who cross from hong leong to lps near orq will understand this grip. every morning, these cars choose to ignore the yellow box regulations. what happens then is that the green man comes on and the poor pedestrians have to weave around the cars intruding in our paths.

a car even overtook my bus today on the left when the bus was abt to turn into a bus stop. thankfully the bus had slowed down to turn into the bus stop. what if an accident had happened along shenton-freaking-way? a massive jam. how did the guy pass his test??

3. bus drivers who need a sucker punch
this goes out to all bus drivers who see a need to slow down at every and i mean EVERY traffic light. meaning green, amber or red, they slow down. why slow down at green? just continue at your normal speed la!

then there are bus drivers who stop at EVERY bus stop, even when there's no one flagging the bus or getting off.

yes. i'm an awful grouch on mondays. oh well. maybe it's just me missing seaweed wrapped rice and lettuce wrapping kimchi bbq-ed meat. haiz~

when people talk abt good looking koreans, the first person that comes to mind is??

yupe. mr Daniel Henney.

i give it to him. he's quite a looker. i noticed him first in the "Seducing Mr Perfect" poster. then again when he was mentioned in "Hello Francesca". then i saw an episode of Witch Yoo Hee. forget Daniel..

i've got dennis.
what's wrong with these mixed blood? i need to get me an american-korean. ok.. maybe dun need american. australian-korean? would be nice. i love australia. i cld get used to korea (Q10 haven!). or australian-japanese.. or or or..

thinking too much. at least dennis and daniel are older than me, right jt??? ahahahaha. i love you. and inspite of my crazy schizo 14-year-old-fanatic facade, evan still loves me. proof? at 12+ am on monday morning..

had a mcflurry from kap just now.. and the strangest thing happened. it was a crazy flood of memories..

of walks through botanic gardens to get to island creamery for ice cream or macs for a break.. all the crazy talks about anything under the sun..

and the oreos.

there's smth about oreos that whenever i munch on them, i just feel like smiling. of course, someone is involved. without people, memories make no sense.

thank you, you all. :)

Day 1:
left the office with a lighter step. Korea beckons. i touch down in korea feeling sleepy with a killer neckache. went to the filming site of Da Chang Jing and after that to shinchon. after that, took the plane to the 'ideal honeymoon site' in korea, Jeju island.

Day 2:
super packed day. we started at Seongsan Sunrise Peak where it's raining like mad. made it halfway up the peak before the cold got the better of me. after that, we headed to the tangerine farm where the crazy family filled MY POCKETS with tangerines. trick learnt. the smaller ones are sweeter than the big ones.

we went to the rape seed flower garden and then to Jussangjeoulli Coastal Roads. headed to the teddy bear musuem and then to the Happy Town Performance, Yongdaum Rock and finally the Mysterious Road.

i went crazy in the teddy musuem. will devote a whole album to the musuem soon.

Day 3:
flew back to Seoul and after lunch, went to Nami Island where Winter Sonata was filmed. my fingers were so frozen that i cldn't feel the water. at night, the family went to soak in the hot spring and pop sprained his ankle when he kicked yong. i went for dunkin' donuts with three other girls in the tour group, brenda, jules and gillian.

Day 4:
I declare that all good looking guys are in boybands. look at SS501.. FT Island.. half of Shinhwa. but i adore Park Young Jin. If anyone can get their hands on his latest album, let me know! his dance moves are uber hot.

anywayz, it snowed. start of the snow for the trip. got to ski.. forwards and backwards, mind you. after that, went to Seorak National park where all of us were freezing. but the photos were worth the frozen unfeeling fingers. the burning chocolate was merely lightly stinging my fingers..
Day 5:
snow fell down. i fell sick. nose gone. throat gone. throbbing head. managed to have fun at everland. i screamed my head off at the suspended coaster (eagle's fortress) and the hurricane ride. then went to dongdaemun where i bought presents and got myself a bag.

Day 6:
Feeling worse. mad itinerary again. started at the ginseng place before the presidential place then down to the National Palace. next was the Korean Cultural Center where we made kimchi and wore the traditional costumes for photo-whoring. ended the day at lotteworld where i was just really sick and warm and quite gone.

i love churros... but it was tasteless. my tastebuds are dead from my crazy nose. didn't even get to go to the lotte mart. haiz.

Day 7:
went to the ameythst factory and got presents and a necklace for myself. then to a place similar to sasa.. just better korean products at a much lower price. went quite mad and spent 30,000 won. that's abt S$48. finished off at the local provision shop where we filled up 5 baskets of food. my family is mad.

reminding photos are here!!
part 2: http://smusg.facebook.com/album.php?aid=76080&l=c0a56&id=866370645
part 3: http://smusg.facebook.com/album.php?aid=76090&l=45de1&id=866370645
finally back from korea.. came back 3 hours with dry skin, chapped lips, blocked nose, clogged throat and giddiness..

but also still swarming with memories.. not so much of the place but of the people. like the *tsk* family.. the 三位美女.. the 三位老师... and of course, the dear tour guide 小 liu. not sure which "liu" it is. her name is 嘉惠 (hope i got the right characters) and she's really such a dear..

unfortunately, i think i passed her my cold. she's just so affectionate. she likes to hit me and hug me and somehow, she was sniffing away on the last day. either she's emotional abt us leaving or she's really sick. haiz.

will update more tmr. anywayz, for a preview, here's part one of my own photos from my camera. http://smusg.facebook.com/album.php?aid=75877&l=225ff&id=866370645 will put up more later..
